About
In 1885, the first five graduates of the Case School of Applied Science established the Case Alumni Association (CAA), making it the oldest independent alumni association of engineering and applied science graduates in the nation. Today the Case Alumni Association includes more than 20,000 alumni from the Case School of Applied Science, Case Institute of Technology, and the Case School of Engineering.
The Case Alumni Association awards the following scholarships:
- Junior / Senior Scholarship – Awarded to rising sophomores and juniors pursuing a BS in engineering, math, or the applied sciences based on merit, need and personal skills. Any awarded funds are applied the year after the student has been selected for a scholarship.
- Binary Scholarship – Awarded to rising juniors and seniors pursuing a BS in engineering, math, or the applied sciences and have been nominated by their department chair, based on merit, need and personal skills. Awards will be given to students and parents of students who have requested aid from the Office of Financial Aid, Office of Engineering Student Programs, Case School Engineering, or the Case Alumni Association. The Case Alumni Association will work with contacts from these departments to be able to award scholarships to deserving students.
- SOURCE and SURES – Each year, the Case Alumni Association helps fund approximately 30 student awards of up to $3,500 each for undergraduate students enrolled in the following summer research programs: Support of Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors (SOURCE) and Summer Undergraduate Research in Energy and Sustainability (SURES). Students do hands-on work in labs across campus and throughout University Circle, working closely with graduate students and professors on projects most undergraduates typically wouldn’t experience until pursuing higher degrees or working in professional research teams.

Value of the Award
Awards vary from $500 to $8,000.
In 2016, a total of 202 students from the Case School of Engineering and the applied math and science programs received awards for a combined total of $677,200 in scholarships. These scholarships are provided by generous donors and the Case Alumni Association's endowed funds. The Alumni Association celebrates in March each year with student recipients, donors, and the Case Alumni Association board of directors at its annual reception.
