Graduation Spotlight: Isabella Devai Camacho de Oliveira

Isabella Devai Camacho De Oliveira

Major: Electrical Engineering

Why did you choose this area of study?

I came into college knowing I liked physics and a little bit of coding. By taking ENGR 130 and exploring the different disciplines I found that the part I liked the most was building circuits. Electrical engineering seemed a great way to combine those 3 things.

What is your favorite thing about engineering?

How multidisciplinary and collaborative it can be, it’s beautiful to see how many different skills and knowledge are necessary to complete a project.

Why did you choose CWRU?

Besides the great STEM reputation, while watching all of the online Information Sessions CWRU had I realized how great the community was, the professors seemed to genuinely care for the students, and the students genuinely cared for each other.

Were you involved in activities outside of class?

I was involved in the Case Aeronautics Team, Cru, research and TAing. The Case Aeronautics Team seemed like a very welcoming team that was willing to teach real life engineering where I could gain experience, make friends, and have fun! At Cru I could get to know God better, deepen my faith, and grow closer to friends that can share their faith and the Gospel with me. Research would also let me gain hands-on experience in engineering and further my learning. And By TAing for ENGR 130 I could pass on all the knowledge and encouragement I received as a student my first year.

What's your thing about CWRU, or favorite memory?

My favorite thing about CWRU is how nerdy the community is.

What advice/encouragement would you like to share with current students?

Make sure you take time to take care of yourself: eat, sleep, shower, spend time with friends. Yes you are here to learn and get a degree, but there is no degree if there is no you.

What are your plans after graduation?

I am getting married after graduation and moving to Michigan to start work at GE Aerospace as part of the Edison Engineering Development Program!
