December 2022 Neighborhood Advisory Council Member Spotlight: Janice Eatman Williams

Janice Eatman Williams

Janice A. Eatman Williams was born in Hough and raised in Glenville. She has been an advocate and activist for access and excellence in education for young people for more than three decades. Her services have been shared through the years while employed at Tri-C Metro Campus, Vocational Guidance Services, Cleveland Metropolitan School District and, currently, the FOCUS Group at Case Western Reserve University, where she directs campus-to-community-based Outreach Programs. In this role, she has engaged thousands of CWRU students in service to over 50 schools and community-based organizations throughout Cleveland and East Cleveland. Away from campus, she devotes her time to many organizations and efforts whose mission is the empowerment of community. She is a graduate of Hawken School and she received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University. She also is a graduate of the Weatherhead School of Management and the Mandel School at Case Western Reserve University. 

Eatman Williams serves on the University’s Social Justice Institute Leadership Team, the SAC Community Service Committee, and the Communications Committee for the CWRU African American Alumni Association. She also is a CWRU Campus Advisor to several student leadership groups. Eatman Williams is a member of the Northwestern Club of Cleveland and the Northwestern Black Alumni Association, as well as an active Life Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. 

She is an often requested panelist and presenter at Hawken School, and is engaged in numerous community-based initiatives. Also, Eatman Williams is a 2009 recipient of the Case Western Reserve President’s Award for Distinguished Service, the 2018 recipient of the Newton D. Baker Distinguished Service Award from The Alumni Association at CWRU, and a Fall 2018 inductee of the Mandel School Hall of Achievement, among others.

Eatman Williams is and has always been proud to call the city of Cleveland home.
