October 2022 NAC Member Spotlight: Darrell Fields

Neighborhood Advisory Council member Darrell A. Fields is an attorney with Forbes, Fields & Associates Co., L.P.A. and a 32-year resident of the City East Cleveland, Ohio.

"Case Western Reserve University is uniquely situated at the intersection of education, research and commerce," says Fields. "As a member of the Neighborhood Advisory Council, it is important that we provide a guiding light to assist the university in its institutional efforts to assure that the surrounding neighborhoods and all residents of Cleveland and East Cleveland share in the benefits of proximity to such a uniquely situated university." 

Born in 1958, Fields earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Wittenberg University (1980) and Juris Doctor degree from Howard University School of Law (1983). His primary areas of practice have been public law, municipal finance law and real estate law. For over 25 years, Fields served as general counsel and bond counsel to the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority (OAQDA). Additionally, as bond counsel, Fields developed an air quality facility financing program for small business, the U.S Department of Energy-recognized Qualified Energy Conservation Bond Financing Program, and the financing program for Ohio Facilities Construction Commission projects financed at OAQDA.  

Fields has been admitted to practice before the Ohio Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers. He has served as a panel member for the Bond Attorneys Workshop sponsored by the National Association of Bond Lawyers and lease finance workshops sponsored by the Association of Governmental Leasing and Finance. 

Fields is married to his wife, Helen, and the couple have three adult children, William, Camille and Brandon.
