March 8 Message to Students Planning to Study Abroad in May

To Our Students Planning to Study Abroad in May:

Given the rapidly evolving news regarding COVID-19, we wanted to contact you directly regarding how Case Western Reserve is approaching aspects of the outbreak that could affect those studying abroad in May.

First and most importantly, your health and safety are the university's highest priority. We are closely monitoring global and domestic developments, consulting with colleagues at peer institutions and also receiving guidance from local infectious disease experts. To learn more about the university's overall response and see related communications, please visit our updates page

As of this writing, we have not cancelled any May study abroad programs. However, this situation could change at any time. We strongly recommend that you do not purchase airfare unless it is completely refundable. We also are in close contact with your program faculty, and they will be preparing alternative academic arrangements in the event that the outbreak requires cancellation of some programs. We will communicate with you quickly regarding any developments.

In addition to the university-wide COVID-19 updates page, we also have a separate COVID-19 study abroad page with the most recent information relevant to you. If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office at studyabroad@case.edu. We are here to support you!
