Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) - Center for Artificial Intelligence in Drug Discovery - School of Medicine

The Center for Artificial Intelligence in Drug Discovery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine has two non-tenure track assistant professor positions available in the areas of artificial intelligence, natural language processing, machine learning, data mining, systems biology, biomedical informatics, and other related computer science fields, with applications in drug discovery, disease mechanism understanding and health outcomes research. Successful candidates will have formal training in computer science, biomedical informatics and other related data science fields and extensive research experience and publication record in above related fields.  

The responsibilities for this position include developing new computational methods for understanding disease mechanisms, drug discovery, and health outcomes. Conduct original research in developmental of computational, statistical and related analytical methods. Coordinate and lead collaborations locally, nationally and internationally. Present research results at national and international conferences. Write research papers and independent research grants.

The Candidate will have strong technical skills in computer science – artificial intelligence, natural language processing, data mining, machine learning, pattern recognition, graph theory, networks, systems biology, knowledge representation and engineering, ontology. Strong computer science background and programming skills are critical. Strong research experience, publication record and communication skills are necessary.

Research Associates, Postdoctoral researchers - Center for Artificial Intelligence in Drug Discovery - School of Medicine

The newly established  Center for Artificial Intelligence in Drug Discovery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio is seeking Research Associates and postdoctoral researchers to contribute to our core research focused on drug discovery, disease mechanism understanding, precision medicine and health outcomes research. The center aims at develop innovative artificial intelligence, natural language processing, data mining, machine learning, pattern recognition, graph theory, systems biology, knowledge representation and engineering, ontology and other computational algorithms to understand genetic causes of diseases, identify candidate drugs/compounds to treat diseases, elucidate how environmental factors contribute to diseases, and conduct health outcomes research.  The center sponsors H1 visa applications.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. MS, or PhD degree in computer science, biomedical informatics and other related data science field.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  1. Strong background in computer science.

  2. Strong programming experience in Java, Python, C++, or Perl; experience with existing bioinformatics and computer science tools.

  3. Must demonstrate willingness to learn new computational knowledge, techniques, and procedures.

  4. Ability to work collaboratively in team environment.

  5. Highly self-motivated individual; strong organization skills; ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines; proven ability to successfully follow-through on assigned projects.

  6. Strong skills in scientific writing.
