Frank Jacono, MD, is the Division Chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at University Hospitals, a staff physician at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, and a professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He is board-certified in Critical Care Medicine and Pulmonary Disease.

Dr. Jacono earned his B.S. in Physics at Case Western Reserve University and attended medical school at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He completed his residency in internal medicine and a pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.

Dr. Jacono is heavily involved in research in the areas of pulmonary medicine and critical care and has a National Institutes of Health and Veteran’s Affairs-funded research program focused on the neural control of breathing. He has published over 50 peer reviewed articles in prestigious national and international journals. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Applied Physiology and has served as a reviewer for that and several other prominent journals.

Dr. Jacono has been granted multiple accolades and awards throughout his career. He has served on multiple national and international committees and is an active member in the American Thoracic Society and the Society for Complex Acute Illness.
