Research Information
Research Interests
Developing accurate diagnostic techniques and discovering effective therapy options are the key thrust areas in brain tumor research. Development of non-invasive imaging biomarkers is essential for accurate diagnosis of tumors, accurate detection of recurrence and monitoring of treatment response. My goal is to pursue a research career that is dedicated to identifying the optimal imaging biomarker/s for evaluation of brain tumors that when translated from bench to bedside will positively influence patient outcomes.
Research Projects
Currently, I am actively involved in brain tumor neuroimaging research with use of perfusion and permeability imaging as well as hybrid imaging techniques such as PET/CT and PET/MR. I am working on developing initial clinical applications of magnetic resonance fingerprinting, the exciting new MR technology that was recently developed at Case Western Reserve University. I have explored the physiological changes associated with normal aging using MRF and demonstrated several age and gender-related trends and I am currently focusing on the role of MRF in initial diagnosis and treatment response monitoring of adult brain tumors. My aim is to work with multi parametric quantitative imaging markers using current and emerging techniques to improve patient outcomes in the most aggressive types of brain tumors, i.e. glioblastoma.
