David W. Jordan, Ph.D. is the Chief Medical Physicist for Radiology and Radiation Safety at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, Chief Diagnostic Medical Physicist at the Louis Stokes Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Professor of Radiology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Jordan is an internationally known expert in medical physics who has been recognized for excellence in education and leadership including eight consecutive Department of Radiology Teacher of the Year Awards. He is active in the American College of Radiology, American Association of Physicists in Medicine, Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, Health Physics Society, and Laser Institute of America and has served in expert and leadership roles with the American Board of Radiology and American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety. Dr. Jordan led the implementation of system-wide medical physics and radiation safety programs for University Hospitals across over a dozen hospitals and over seventy ambulatory imaging facilities in Northeast Ohio.
Dr. Jordan’s research interests include nuclear imaging and instrumentation, radiopharmaceutical therapy, medical physics workforce and practice models, magnetic resonance imaging, and computed tomography. He has coauthored numerous peer-reviewed publications including seminal papers on digital PET and spectral detector CT instrumentation and multiple expert consensus publications. He has been invited to lecture nationally and internationally and has been interviewed for national podcasts and news publications. He is a member of the American Board of Radiology, American Board of Science in Nuclear Medicine, American Board of Medical Physics, American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety, and Fellow of the American College of Radiology and American Association of Physicists in Medicine.
He received his PhD from the University of Michigan and holds five board certifications in medical physics. He has over 20 years of experience in medical physics in both private practice and academic roles. He serves as program director of the medical physics residency program in diagnostic imaging and nuclear medicine at UH Cleveland Medical Center.
