Christine M. Cano (Ph.D. Yale University), Associate Professor of French, has research interests in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. She is the author of Proust’s Deadline (University of Illinois Press, 2006) and has published on various literary and cultural topics in the Bulletin des amis d’André Gide, the Bulletin Marcel Proust, Contemporary French Civilization, Romance Quarterly, and Textual Practice. She joined the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures in 1999, after teaching at Bates College and Virginia Tech. An alumna of Smith College, she spent her junior year in Paris (Université Paris-Sorbonne) and returns to France frequently. She teaches courses throughout the French language, literature, and civilization curriculum, including courses on French cinema and the contemporary novel. A recent publication, “The Kinsey Report in France” (Contemporary French Civilization 35:1, 2011), offers a brief cultural history of the Kinsey Report in translation.
