Why I chose PRIME at CWRU
PRIME is a one year, in-person program rather than online, and offered a "bridge" via a guaranteed interview at CWRU medical school if I performed well in the program and met the linkage requirements. These were the things I was looking for when choosing a post-bac or master's program. Most others were either online, 2 years, or both. I liked the flexibility in classes I was able to take and the people who were in the program with me. My favorite aspect is the friends I’ve made here in the PRIME program and a few of my other classes. It’s kind of different than I expected as everyone seems down to earth and relatable and very friendly. It’s a nice little community. The directors were also a lot of help and were available at almost any time.
How PRIME helped me achieve my goals
During PRIME I was able to shadow two pediatric neurologists and I have been accepted to a few medical schools. I think PRIME helped me a great deal in these areas. If a student thinks improving their undergrad GPA and receiving a committee letter package will help them get into medical school, then PRIME will be a good program for them. It’s really awesome to see all the science classes that you’ve taken actually be applied to specific situations in medicine.
I will be attending CWRU School of Medicine starting this summer. I hope to do well with my studies and engage in meaningful research while there. I'm sure I'll be able to match at a good residency program after medical school and my hope is that one day I will fulfill my dream of becoming a pediatric neurologist.
