The campus community is invited to join the Department of Biomedical Engineering for its 50th anniversary celebration at the Ford Distinguished Lecture Thursday, Sept. 6, at 3:30 p.m. in the Tinkham Veale University Center ballroom.
Omar Ishrak, chairman and CEO of Medtronic, will present “Innovate, Invent, Disrupt: The Importance of Medical Technology in Transforming Healthcare for the Future.”

Immediately following the lecture, there will be a panel discussion titled “Public Health and Private Hospitals: Better Together?”
Panelists will be:
- Toby Cosgrove, former CEO of the Cleveland Clinic;
- Greg Moody, director of the Office of Health Transformation for the State of Ohio; and
- Glen P. Mays, professor in services and systems research at the University of Kentucky.
