A Supreme Court ruling on voting rights could boost Republicans' redistricting efforts

NPR: Atiba Ellis, the Laura B. Chisholm Distinguished Research Scholar and professor of law, said the Supreme Court’s upcoming ruling on Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act could be a “tipping point,” potentially weakening Congress’s ability to protect multiracial democracy. Without federal safeguards against racial discrimination, Ellis warned, redistricting could become a political “free-for-all” for decades.
