Jisung Yuk, postdoctoral fellow at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, was awarded a two-year, $150,000 postdoctoral fellowship from the American Heart Association. He conducts his research under the mentorship of David Cunningham, PhD, Scott Lempka, PhD, and Richard Wilson, MD.

Yuk's research will evaluate whether bihemispheric transcranial direct current stimulation, a noninvasive brain stimulation technique, produces the intended changes in brain activity in chronic stroke survivors.

By clarifying why responses to stimulation vary greatly from person to person, examining stroke characteristics, impairment level, and individual differences in the delivered electric field through clinical MRI-based e-field modeling, this work has the potential to support more reliable and individualized approaches to improving motor recovery after stroke.
