Sharing support and resources for all affected by today’s events in the Middle East
In light of these ongoing events, we wanted to share our support to those impacted and to ensure each of you is aware of the resources available to our community.
To our faculty, staff and postdocs:
As events continue to escalate in Iran and across the Middle East, we recognize these developments may be deeply personal and distressing for many members of the Case Western Reserve University community.
Though there are no known students, faculty, staff or postdocs in the region at this time, we also know that, as an international university, global events are never truly distant. Some of you have family, friends or colleagues directly affected, while others may feel uncertainty, concern or grief as you follow the news from Cleveland.
In light of these ongoing events, we wanted to share our support to those impacted and to ensure each of you is aware of the resources available to our community—whether they could help you, a colleague or a student you know.
First, we want to remind you that you have the support of many offices across campus. Faculty can reach out to the Office of Faculty Advancement; staff should contact Human Resources, and postdocs should contact the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs for assistance. If you work closely with students, you also can encourage them to reach out to the Dean of Students Office for support.
In addition, those in need of counseling support should use CWRU’s free services at any time. Students can reach University Counseling Services at 216.368.5872 or by scheduling an appointment online through MyHealthConnect, or access 24/7 online support through TimelyCare. Faculty, staff and postdoc counseling services are available through AllOne Health, the university’s Employee Assistance Provider, at 800.227.6007 or this website.
We also want to remind you of the importance each of you plays in supporting each other; a simple check-in with a colleague, friend or student can make a meaningful difference.
Case Western Reserve is pausing travel to the Middle East until further information is available. As a reminder, all university-related international travel requires pre-registration with the Office of International Affairs.
We will continue to monitor developments and share relevant information as appropriate. Above all, we remain committed to ensuring that every member of our community feels supported and safe.
