Midterms are around the corner, and mid-semester grades are due by Monday, March 11. Check out some helpful academic resources and tips to help you study and prepare for your upcoming exams.
Organize
- Assess how well you are handling course material. Decide if you need to speak with your professor, teaching assistant or tutor for a review session.
- Create a special study schedule to make sure that you cover all the material. Post this schedule above your desk and refer to it daily.
- Organize your study materials into a set of exam notes. For engineering, math and science classes, create a formula sheet.
- Create a study group if you don't already have one.
- Find a quiet, pleasant place to study. If you are facing a long week of test preparation, select a special place to study for each exam.
Practice
- Use a practice exam to assess what you know and what you need to review.
- Don't underestimate the difficulty of a multiple choice exam. Make sure you really know the information and are able to utilize it on application-based questions.
Reward
Reward yourself at the end of each study day and after an exam. Rewards can be as simple as talking with a friend, watching a movie or a fun treat.
Review
- When exams are returned, don't just pay attention to the grade. Set up an appointment with your professor to go over the exam.
- Evaluate how much time you spent studying for the exam.
