About Posse
Posse was founded in 1989 because of one student who said, “I never would’ve dropped out of college if I’d had my posse with me.”
The Posse Foundation empowers dynamic student leaders to excel through college and beyond. Scholars are selected during the fall of their senior year of high school, and then dive into immersive pre-college training focused on mastering leadership, cross-cultural communication, and academic excellence. Once on campus, Scholars leverage a powerful support system of dedicated mentors and impactful retreats with access to internships, career coaching, and an elite alumni network.
Posse at CWRU
Our Posse sites: Posse began at CWRU in 2017 with our inaugural cohort from New Orleans. Since then, CWRU has expanded its partner network to welcome Scholars from the Virtual and Veterans Posses. In Fall 2027, we are thrilled to welcome our very first Houston Posse to the Spartan family!
Mentorship: During their first two years at CWRU, Scholars receive personalized, structured mentorship from a dedicated faculty mentor. Scholars participate in weekly group meetings with their cohort and bi-weekly 1-on-1 sessions with their mentor, ensuring strong academic, social, and personal support.
Events: Community building extends well beyond the classroom with signature events designed to spark connection and drive big conversations:
- Fall & Spring "Big Meetings": Semesterly gatherings that bring together the entire CWRU Posse community to celebrate milestones, share experiences, and stay connected.
- The PossePlus Retreat: A 2-night, 3-day off-campus retreat where Posse Scholars, invited campus guests, faculty, and administrators unite to engage in deep, meaningful dialogue on pressing social issues.
