Navigators work directly with students to promote and encourage their success throughout their Case Western Reserve University experience. When challenges come up, we hope that parents and families will encourage their student to contact their navigator directly.
Resources for Parents and Families
As parents and family members of a Case Western Reserve University student, you are an important and valued partner in promoting your student's success. That's why there's an office dedicated to offering resources and programs to you.
The Office of First-Year Experience and Family Programs offers invaluable resources to help you support your student.
Per the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) employees of the university may not release personally identifiable student records (academic records, information about advising appointments, etc.) to a third party (including parents and family members), unless the student has consented in writing to its release. For more information about FERPA, please visit the Registrar’s website.
Navigators in the Office of Student Advancement will only share student information with parents and families upon receiving a written release from the student. Even in those cases, we encourage a three-way conversation including the parent/family member, student and navigator to promote trust and so that everyone involved can hear the same information.
For more information about a FERPA release, students should contact their navigator.
