The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) serves all students, staff and faculty of Case Western Reserve University. OMA’s responsibilities include providing guidance to the university to ensure that CWRU continues to become a more inclusive environment that values and celebrates diversity, inclusion, equity and justice.
The primary goal of OMA is to assist students in being academically successful during their college career at CWRU. OMA regularly reviews how students are performing academically. From connecting students with research possibilities and tutoring to presenting leadership and skill-development workshops, OMA works in collaboration with the Student Success Initiative staff to assist students in their academic and future goals.
OMA is also concerned with students’ success after their time at CWRU and wants to ensure that students are well-prepared as they enter a competitive and dynamic workforce. By partnering with other CWRU offices, OMA provides students with professional networking, job and internship opportunities, and post-graduate planning support.
OMA provides students with positive role models and mentors to offer guidance and support as they navigate the obstacles of their college life. These mentoring relationships are extended and further developed beyond graduation as students become the professionals and leaders of tomorrow.
Overall, OMA provides a reliable, multi-faceted support system where students can come and interact in a “home away from home” environment, assisting students as they meet the different challenges that arise in a college environment. In multiple ways, students utilize OMA as a resource that provides an honest and caring atmosphere that is sensitive to their needs.
