*Please note: Due to the continued need to maintain health and safety measures related to COVID-19, there will only be one audition in academic year 2021-22. The audition date will be Feb. 22, 2022. Video submissions must be made to the department by Dec. 21, 2021. See all pertinent information below.
Please note: The focus of the Department of Dance at Case Western Reserve University is contemporary/modern dance. All productions and the majority of required technique classes are in contemporary and modern.
The scholarship audition process for the Full Tuition Scholarship and the Creative Arts Achievement Award is COMPLETELY separate from the admissions “Arts Supplement process” which does not interface with dance faculty.
To be eligible for these awards, prospective students must apply to the university and submit a video.
Please send a link to a video for pre-screening by the dance department faculty to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Once the faculty have viewed the video, a questionnaire will be sent via email. Following that, an applicant may receive an invitation to audition for the financial awards. The video submission, preferably modern/contemporary, should be 1.5 – 2 minutes in length, and the prospective student should be clearly visible. Do not submit ensemble footage. Video may be from technique class or performance.
Upon review of the video and questionnaire, the faculty will invite select students to attend the on-site scholarship auditions.*
Given that the focus of the department is on modern and contemporary dance, students who have experience and/or training in these genres are stronger candidates.
The university’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions offers two highly competitive full-tuition scholarships in the Department of Dance to incoming students intending to major in dance. Select students may be recommended for these awards following an audition by the Department of Dance.
Creative Arts Achievement Award
The university’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions offers a limited number of Creative Arts Achievement Awards (CAAA) to qualifying incoming students. Given that the focus of the department is on modern and contemporary dance, students who have experience and/or training in these genres are stronger candidates.
Notification for all scholarship awards is made by the Office of Admission in the spring.
