Program for Autism Education and Research (PAER) Partnership with The Hartwell Foundation Autism Research and Technology Initiative (iHART)

PAER has partnered with The Hartwell Foundation's Autism Research and Technology Initiative (iHART), a global centralized data repository to benefit biomedical research on autism that will facilitate the development of PAER's patient registry.

The Mt. Sinai Health Care Foundation Grant

Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine's Program for Autism Education and Research (PAER) was fortunate to receive a grant of $100,000 from the Mt. Sinai Health Care Foundation in June of 2016 to provide catalytic financial support of early stage autism research to investigators in diverse content areas.

PAER awarded five grants to a multidisciplinary group of scientists from diverse content areas strategically to both expand PAER's strength in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) neuroscience and genetics research, and to build our strength in ASD behavioral research.  This early-stage research will focus on ASD diagnosis and treatment, behavioral research both on adolescents and adults and involve caregivers, grandparents and parents.  The five recipients are:

  • Drew Adams, PhD
Drug Targets for Models of ASD with Early Brain Overgrowth
  • David E. Biegel, PhD
Supporting Families of Adolescents and Young Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Angela Hein Ciccia, PhD, CCC-SLP
Determinants of positive functional outcome and quality of life for young adults with ASD
  • Anastasia Dimitropoulos, PhD
Investigating the relation among oxytocin, social-cognitive ability, and parent-child interactions in preschoolers with Autism Spectrum Disorder prior to and after intervention
  • Eva Kahana, PhD
Empowering Grandparents and Parents to Advocate for Children with Autism.
