Subsequent designs use fewer wraps and a straight section,
rather than wraps, between the stimulating contacts. Stimulating
contacts can be seen between the ends of the first and second
wraps, counting from the left hand side, and the sixth and
seventh wraps.
A helical electrode implanted on a nerve is shown in this
figure. Long arrow points to an angulation in the nerve at
one end of the electrode, at the lead junction.
Kinks like this can cause mechanical damage to the nerve.
