Osteoarthritis (OA) is an extremely debilitating health condition highlighted by limitations in daily activities and work functioning. Individuals with OA often experience social isolation, anxiety and depression. The Orchestrating Multifaceted Engineering for Growing Artificial Joints (OMEGA) Team at Case Western Reserve University is committed to understanding the experiences of individuals living with chronic knee pain or OA of the knee. The listening sessions will be used as a platform for participants to share their personal journeys and challenges navigating through the healthcare system.
Discussions will include topics on:
- Experience navigating through the healthcare system
- Relationship with the healthcare providers
- Satisfaction with treatment options and pain management
- Comfortability and willingness to participate in clinical trials
The OMEGA project is committed to valuing all voices at the table in advance of future clinical trials. The perspectives of the community from these sessions will play an important role in shaping the future of healthcare. The data gathered will not only assist with new treatment development but will also contribute to advancing equitable practices within the healthcare field.
