What is a web content management system?

At Case Western Reserve, we want to build a better user experience for visitors to our websites. That starts with having a more unified, consistent web presence. And that starts with a web content management system (WCMS or CMS).

A CMS is an easy-to-use platform to help you create, update and maintain your website. Case Western Reserve's central content management system is Drupal, with hosting and support by Acquia.

In non-tech speak, that means you won’t have to spend money on a website platform or to support a server for your website, nor will you have to spend time learning code (or find someone to do it for you). Even if you have little or no technical experience, the WCMS enables you to customize content, navigation and images to create a well-branded website that works on all devices.

The WCMS project is led by representatives from University Marketing and Communications and University Technology.
