The Writing Program offers a variety of resources for students, including courses, consultations in the Writing Resource Center, and Workshops.
For undergraduates who matriculate in Fall 2023 and later:
As part of your Unified General Education Requirements, you will take a series of Written, Oral & Multimodal Communication courses. In each of these courses, you will be asked to maintain a student Experience Portfolio. After each of your Writing & Communication courses, you will upload one or more documents to this digital portfolio. These materials will be used by faculty readers to assess the strengths and areas for improvement in our curriculum.
For undergraduates who matriculated prior to Fall 2023:
After you have completed your first three SAGES courses (First Seminar + two University Seminars), you will prepare your SAGES Writing Portfolio. This document is used for programmatic assessment, and it is a unique opportunity for you to reflect on your own writing.
For graduate students:
In addition to consultations in the WRC, we offer two unique programs for dissertation writers: an annual Dissertation Boot Camp and a biannual Arts & Science Dissertation Seminar.
