Getting engineers out of the lecture hall, into the lab

First-year students participate in an engineering lab.

Of course, engineers need to know how things work. But, really, they also need to make things work.

We teach you both at Case Western Reserve University in our first-year engineering labs

Learn about the work of our first-year engineers.

In your first semester, you’ll complete a series of projects, like designing and testing a water filter and sensor and building on a heart rate monitor. Projects explore each engineering field—mechanical, chemical, biomedical, civil...

In your second semester, your team will work together with a community partner and use Case Western Reserve’s seven-story innovation center, Sears think[box], to find solutions to real-world engineering problems.

Get ready to build something. I can’t wait to see it.
