How CWRU leads to acceptance at high-quality med schools

Students in a science lab

Nearly two-thirds, 64%, of CWRU undergrads who applied to medical school were accepted in the last five years. The national acceptance rate for all medical schools? Just 42%, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges.

What’s more, the CWRU Class of 2020 enrolled in some notable programs:

  • Boston University
  • Case Western Reserve University
  • Johns Hopkins University
  • The Ohio State University
  • University of Pittsburgh
  • University of Rochester

Why are CWRU students so highly qualified for med school?

Start with a comprehensive university setting known for academic rigor, and strategically located in one of the nation’s most health care-packed neighborhoods (4 major medical institutions at your fingertips, including Cleveland Clinic, consistently ranked a top-5 hospital by U.S. News & World Report), with plenty of opportunities for volunteering and shadowing.

What’s more: professional pre-health advising and an office dedicated to undergraduate research

Round it out with student groups like CWRU EMS, the student-run emergency medical assistance group; Craniofacial Club, an organization benefiting children undergoing craniofacial procedures; and Global Health Design Collaborative, a group working to find sustainable solutions to health concerns around the world.

Put it all together and— 💥BAM 💥—you have the makings of a successful medical school candidate.
