Making connections in Silicon Valley

CWRU students traveled to San Francisco during their fall break for Innovation Trek.

Are you interested in the tech industry and startup culture? Getting an “in” in Silicon Valley is what it’s all about.

Fortunately, for a group of 10 Case Western Reserve University students in business and engineering, connections with CWRU alumni at the highest ranks of the tech world were solidified this fall. We call it Innovation Trek—a two-day visit to the hotbed of innovation.

Trekkers met with leaders during visits to powerhouse companies, including Apartment List, Slack, LinkedIn, eBay, Facebook, Mayfield Fund, Kiwi Co. and Plug and Play.

The purpose?

“At the end of the day, we expect that many of these students will parlay these newly created networks into internships and job offers,” says Michael Goldberg, associate professor of design and innovation at CWRU’s Weatherhead School of Management. “This exposure will be a catalyst to pursue the careers they desire and came to CWRU to prepare for.”
