CWRU nursing students elected to state-wide board of directors

Nursing student takes care of a patient.

Nursing skills don’t stop at the patient’s bedside. Two Case Western Reserve University nursing students are practicing their nursing skills on a whole other level: state-wide nursing school policy.

BSN students Kaitlyn Cantu and Christine Smothers have been elected to the Ohio Student Nurses’ Association’s Board of Directors for the 2019-20 term. Read more here.

In her role, Cantu will lead the annual Resolutions Hearings at the association’s Annual Convention this spring, where approximately 400 delegates discuss and vote on resolutions.

Smothers also served on the board last year. She founded the association’s first Health Policy Education Task Force, which brought members together from across the country to learn about policy and create policy briefs.

Now that’s leadership in nursing.
