Professor Pauline Shanks Kaurin

We are honored to welcome the 2021-22 Inamori Distinguished Scholar in Military Ethics, Prof. Pauline Shanks Kaurin, to Case Western Reserve University and to our classrooms. Shanks Kaurin will teach PHIL 336/426: Military Ethics, the Military Profession, and International Law during the Spring semester. She will also advise current and incoming students to the Military Ethics master's degree program, along with Acting Program Director, CWRU Philosophy Prof. Tony Jack.

 

Prof. Shanks Kaurin is Professor and Admiral James B. Stockdale Chair in Professional Military Ethics at the United States Navy War College. She holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from Temple University and specializes in military ethics, Just War Theory, and philosophy of law and applied ethics.
