Outstanding Graduate Career
This award recognizes a PhD student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University who exhibited overall excellence throughout their graduate career, including performing outstanding research, publishing high-quality manuscripts, delivering engaging and high-profile talks, and demonstrating leadership ability.

Excellence in Graduate Teaching
This award recognizes a current graduate student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering who has shown excellence in a TA position. Students receiving this award demonstrate diligence, punctuality, and initiative in the performance of their teaching assistantship duties in addition to patience and support towards their students.
Outstanding Master's Work
This award recognizes a master’s student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering who exhibited overall excellence in any academic area pertaining to their MS degree, including but not limited to the following: performance in the classroom, research, significant publication or presentation, etc.
This award recognizes a student in biomedical engineering who has published an outstanding manuscript as first of co-first author between May 1, 2020, and April 30, 2021, of significant originality and impact to the scientific community.
Excellence in Mentorship
This award recognizes a current graduate student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering who has served as an outstanding formal or informal mentor to others in their labs or classes, including undergraduate students, other graduate students, high school students, visiting researchers, etc.
Excellence in Departmental and External Service
This award recognizes a current graduate student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering who has served the department or participated in external service activities in a particularly exceptional manner.
Outstanding Creativity in Experiential Graduate Instruction
This special award is for meeting the unprecedented challenges of creating a hybrid learning experience for biomaterials laboratory courses that effectively mixed hands-on and virtual elements.
The Cameron McIntyre Outstanding Award for 2021
This recognition is awarded to a teaching assistant whose efforts are well above and go well beyond expectations in the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
2020 Doctoral Excellence Award
Nathaniel Braman, advised by Anant Madabhushi at the Center for Computational Imaging and Personalized Diagnostics (CCIPD), received the 2020 Doctoral Excellence Award for Biomedical Engineering from the School of Medicine.
Braman's work focused on the development of new measurement and analysis techniques to extract information about a tumor and tumor environment to determine the best treatment strategy for cancers of the breast and lung.
He defended his PhD dissertation, titled "Novel Radiomics and Deep Learning Approaches Targeting the Tumor Environment to Predict Response to Chemotherapy,” on April 17, 2020.
