Manages pre- and post-award sponsored-research grants for the Department of Biomedical Engineering.

Angelica manages sponsored-research projects for the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and works directly with support staff, administrators and investigators in preparing and submitting grant applications, interacting with sponsor representatives, and in managing grant accounts from establishment to closeout. Angelica also provides compliance oversight, prepares forecasts, offers guidance and communicates and interprets agency policies and requirements for investigative personnel.

Key Job Functions

  • Prepares, reviews and processes all grant applications submitted by faculty in the Department of Biomedical Engineering in preparation for institutional signature
  • Prepares for new and renewed proposals: gathers data and responds to requests for information; researches and compiles information required; prepares initial budget and support documentation; and reviews proposals to ensure routine specifications are met
  • Provides direction and training to investigators in grant preparation, administration and compliance
  • Manages research accounts by forecasting post-award spending, and reviewing and approving all research expenditures
  • Liaise with internal partners in Research Administration, Purchasing and the Controller's Office as well as external funding agencies and partner organizations regarding administrative and financial issues relating to current and pending funded projects
