ALBL, MICHAEL ALBERT (8 Oct. 1869-19 Feb. 1944) was a doctor prominent in Cleveland's Czech community. He was born in Cleveland and was one of six sons of Michael and Katherine (Peck) Albl. His father, who arrived in the U.S. in 1850, was well known in the Czech community of Cleveland especially due to his involvement in numerous organizations.
Albl (the son) was educated at Cleveland public schools, including Central high school. He graduated from the School of Pharmacy of Western Reserve University in 1888, and from Western Reserve University's medical school in 1892. He began practicing medicine that same year. Albl had a combined office and residence at 5074 Broadway, directly opposite St. Alexis Hospital, for many years. His brothers all had either offices or stores along this section of Broadway.
Albl was on the consulting staff, and was vice chief of staff, at St. Alexis Hospital, the same hospital where he took his internship. He remained associated with the hospital for 52 years, until his death. He also served as a director of the Crescent Realty Company. He belonged to several medical and fraternal organizations and was known as a devotee of hunting and fishing.
Michael Albl married Francis Stadnik in Cleveland on 25 Aug. 1892. They had three children, Frances Waugh, Oswald M. Albl, and Jasmine Soetga Gadke. Albl died in Cleveland.
