We are so excited to shout out one of our CWRU Entrepreneurs and micro grant recipients: Alex Warner, Founder of the Spartan Laundry Company!
Alex is a 3rd year Accounting and Finance student from Tampa, Florida. Growing up, his first introduction to entrepreneurship was during Gasparilla, one of the largest annual parades in the US. As part of his family’s celebration he and his brothers would post up an extravagant lemonade stand selling beverages, hot dogs, chips and more. Over the years they grew this lemonade stand by recruiting their neighbors to participate. As an ex-CWRU baseball player, Alex has coined entrepreneurship to be his “post-athletic” renaissance.

Now, Alex has been focusing much of his non-academic attention on developing the Spartan Laundry Company, LLC. Spartan Laundry Company, LLC was founded this summer to address the need for better laundry services for students at CWRU. Most laundry machines on campus are overused, worn down, and ineffective. After researching the situation, Alex realized that the average washing machine in CWRU first year dorms serves over 34 students at one time!
The Spartan Laundry Company, LLC provides pick up and drop off laundry services for busy, stressed CWRU students. All the clothes are professionally handled by a contracted commercial laundry service who processes and folds all of the clothes. Spartan Laundry Company, LLC has multiple packages: (1) a including a one time wash-dry-fold service, weekly semester plans, and plans still on sale for the remainder of the year with weekly pick up and drop off. He’s also added a dry cleaning pick up and delivery option open to all students. With all of the plans, items are picked up and delivered weekly within 48 hours.
Alex has recently been awarded a microgrant through the Student Entrepreneurship Fund through the CWRU LaunchNET program in support of the Spartan Laundry Co.

Lastly, we asked Alex what advice he would give to other students who were interested in entrepreneurship or starting their own business, “Don’t be afraid to ask for help and reach out to the amazing resources around you whether at school or in an entrepreneurship ecosystem.”
