During this week in Block 4, the Homeostasis block, students leave the classroom and enter the clinical setting to see the relevance of the basic science they have been studying as the concepts are used in the setting of patient care. Students are assigned to numerous different clinical sites and activities during this week. Activities can include rounding with inpatient services at area hospitals, shadowing clinical faculty in area hospitals and community-based settings, observing patient procedures, and participating in simulation exercises with Standardized Patients and electronic simulators.
