Jessica Taylor joined the Department of Physiology and Biophysics in 2020. A part of the medical education team, she has worked to update the curriculum of the Masters of Science of Medical Physiology (MSMP) program. This has been a particular focus since being named Associate Director in 2024. Under her direction, the MSMP curriculum has undergone an extensive revision and she is overseeing the development of a second, one-year curriculum (in progress). Dr. Taylor also focuses on the coordination of linkages between external institutions and the MSMP program, giving students the advantage of guaranteed interviews at professional schools.
Dr. Taylor’s research focuses on the scholarship of teaching and learning. She is interested in factors that influence student outcomes, such as providing early access to educational materials and the outcome of this access on student grades. Dr. Taylor’s current research fellowship, awarded by the International Association for Medical Science Educators (IAMSE), focuses on factors of admission such as university size, course history, and entrance exams and subsequent performance in the MSMP program.
Understanding that service is an integral part of academia, Dr. Taylor serves on numerous committees at CWRU. She also serves on the Membership Committee at IAMSE and as an advisory board member for Experimentium, a Department of Education funded program.
