Critical Conversations is a monthly series sponsored by the Office of the Provost in which a panel of experts thoughtfully engage in “Critical Conversations” about important cross-disciplinary and often controversial topics. Each panel covers several themes within the topic. This is followed by a rich Q&A session with the audience. Provost and Executive Vice President Joy K. Ward serves as the moderator.
The next event will focus on “Higher Ed in Political Campaigns.” All members of the Case Western Reserve University community are invited to attend this Critical Conversations event Thursday, Oct. 31, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Linsalata Alumni Center Foster-Castele Great Hall.
During this Critical Conversation, panelists will discuss how higher education has been discussed and leveraged in political campaigns. This event will feature the Association of American Universities’ (AAU) Ken Goldstein, who is one of the country’s premier experts on political campaigns, in general, and the use and impact of advertising, in particular.
The panelists will be:
- Atiba Ellis, the Laura B. Chisholm Distinguished Research Scholar and professor of law at CWRU;
- Ken Goldstein, senior fellow at the AAU;
- Jenn Ruggles, associate vice president of government relations at CWRU; and
- Michele L. S. Krantz, chief counsel for research and strategic innovation in the Office of General Counsel at CWRU.
Lunch will be provided. Organizers request attendees refrain from recording the event.
