Expanded Vaccine Eligibility in Ohio

To the Case Western Reserve Community:

Like many of you, we are overjoyed by the news that all Ohio residents 16 and older will be eligible for COVID-19 vaccines before the end of this month—and that those 40 and older qualify as of Friday.

Also like many of you, we do not yet know new details of when and where people will be able to get additional doses in the coming days and weeks. As announced earlier this month, the Wolstein Center will begin serving as a mass vaccine site starting tomorrow; for more information, including how to register, visit the county’s webpage.

In addition, Cuyahoga County offers an online map where you can access vaccine sites throughout the region.

Many of you have contacted University Health Services and other campus offices to ask when Case Western Reserve will begin scheduling vaccine appointments for those newly eligible. As of now, we do not have answers to such questions. We are continuing to work with officials in Cleveland and elsewhere to determine whether we will be able to distribute additional doses at our campus site—and, if so, to whom.

As soon as we have definite details, we will inform the campus community about any vaccine availability.

For now, we encourage those who are eligible to schedule an appointment wherever you can get a dose. If additional opportunities arise on campus or closer to where you live, you can always cancel and reschedule.

Thank you for continuing to follow Case Western Reserve’s COVID-19 prevention protocols; we look forward to providing updates soon.
