Mark your calendar for University Welcome and Convocation Aug. 19

To the Case Western Reserve University Faculty and Staff,

Beginning with the fall 2024 semester, we will celebrate the start of the academic year with a single event that welcomes our newest students and their families, and importantly, engages faculty and staff.

Please join us for our combined University Welcome and Convocation at 4 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2024, at the Veale Convocation, Recreation and Athletic Center. All members of our campus community, first-year students and their families, alumni and friends of the university will be invited to attend.

The University Welcome and Convocation will last approximately one hour and feature brief remarks by members of university leadership and student leaders, as well as a keynote address and book signing by the Elaine G. Hadden Distinguished Visiting Author.

Please note that regalia will not be required or worn at this event. Also, the recognition of Distinguished University Professors, which previously occurred during Fall Convocation, will be moved permanently to Spring Convocation, as it was this year.

We will share additional details about the University Welcome and Convocation as the event nears. In the meantime, please mark your calendars for 4 p.m., Monday, August 19, and plan to join us for this special beginning to the 2024-25 academic year. We look forward to seeing you then!

Sincerely,
Eric W. Kaler, President
Joy K. Ward, Provost and Executive Vice President
