Poster Workshop & Printing

The Undergraduate Research Office works with several campus partners to provide workshops that prepare you for making and presenting your poster. We are grateful to our campus colleagues for sharing their time and expertise. Please review the workshop(s) below and attend those that will help you in this important part of your research experience.

Preparing to Present

This presentation is designed to help students maximize efficiency when creating their posters and improve their presentation skills when sharing their research with others.

Poster Printing Information

Poster Requirements

  • Students are responsible for printing and covering the cost of their own posters.
  • The Undergraduate Research Office will provide an easel, a board to hang the poster, and clips.
  • Students can select from one of two board sizes to best suit their poster size: 32' x 40" or 40" x 60".  You can check which size you requested on your Intersections registration form in CampusGroups.
  • University Logos: To access these logos, you will need to enter your network id and password when prompted.

Poster Templates

Some students may find it helpful to use a template when designing their poster. Students are welcome to explore template options, as long as they follow the poster requirements stated above.

Printing Vendors

There are two campus vendors who provide this printing service: University Student Activities and Leadership (SA&L) and FedEx.  Please choose one of these vendors and follow their specific guidelines (below).  

Please note that the SA&L provides bond printing but not High Weight Coated (HWC) printing, which is offered on campus through FedEx.

FedEx Office CWRU Thwing Center

  • Students must email (usa5686@fedex.com) the finished PDF at least 48 hours in advance and state that it is for Intersections.
  • The email must contain the following information: (1) first and last name, (2) poster size, (3) your poster file.
  • Students will be notified by email when their order is completed.
  • Pricing:
    • Bond 32" x 40" = $17.00
    • Bond 40" x 60" = $33.00.
  • All pricing is good ten days prior to the event.

University Student Activities and Leadership (SA&L)

Please read the information below before submitting your request. All posters for Intersections Poster Symposium must be submitted through SA&L Intersections Poster Printing form found on the SA&L website.

Pricing:

  • 32" x 40" = $15.00
  • 40" x 60" = $20.00
  • Important Note: A rush fee of $5 will be added to posters that are submitted Wednesday, December 2 after 5pm. 

Additional Guidelines:

  • Save your poster as a PDF sized to the poster size you need printed (32'x40" or 40"x60") - or scaled accordingly
  • If you need help resizing a PowerPoint slide before converting it into a PDF, check out this tutorial.
  • Name your file: LastName.FirstName.Size (example: Stegemann. Rachel.32x40).
  • Students will receive an email confirmation when their poster has been printed.
  • In-person credit card and cash payments are accepted.
