All About Finding Research and Creative Endeavors

The Undergraduate Research Office encourages and appreciates first and second year students to first attend an All About Finding Research and Creative Endeavors information session first before making an appointment on My Journey.

Looking for Research? Attend this info session! This 50-minute information session provides you with the basic information for finding research on and around CWRU during the academic year and some guidance for finding summer research. Zoom sessions must be accessed via signing into CWRU SSO.

This session provides information about academic year, semester and summer research abroad opportunities.  It is sponsored by both Student Abroad and The Undergraduate Research Office.

 

Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)

Dates and Times TBD

Conducted each Fall and/or Spring semester, the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) is a 4-part seminar series focused on research ethics for undergraduate researchers.  Students who complete all four sessions receive a Certificate of Completion. Each RCR installment will be held virtually and sessions are 50 minutes. 

RCR is co-sponsored by the Office of Research Administration and the Undergraduate Research Office. 

Summer (Re)Search

Fall semester is the time to learn how to conduct a web search for summer research programs. CWRU summer program directors will be present and National Lab representatives will be virtual. All will share great information!  Most summer program application deadlines are in January and February and some in December and March.

This information session counts as an Explore Program for first year students.

The Graduate School Admission Process in STEM Fields: Organizing for Success

This workshop will cover many components of the graduate application process, with a particular focus on STEM students.  Also, a panel of faculty share in depth knowledge of the graduate admissions process. Register to attend on Handshake.

UH Clinical Research and Other Internship Opportunities for Summer and Fall

Learn about opportunities for summer and fall from the more than 3400 active clinical research studies at UH.  Attendees also will review the summer job board and hear tips on applying.

Professional Skills Development for Undergraduate Research

This session will cover the usage of professional skills within a research setting.  These skills include: Building a positive working relationship and communicating within a professional environment (Grad students, Postdocs, Faculty, etc.).  Emotional Intelligence will be introduced as a foundational concept towards the attainment of these professional skills.

Preparing for Intersections: Improving Presentation Skills and How to Make a Poster

This virtual session and will be presented by Shaun Hoversten, Assistant Director of Academic Support Resources for Students. This presentation is designed to help you maximize efficiency when creating your posters and improve your presentation skills when sharing your research with others.

This virtual session presented by Dr. Gabrielle Parkin, Director of Writing Center and Department of English Faculty, will cover many components of writing proposal statements for summer undergraduate research applications.
