Elizabeth Somsel is an MBA candidate at Weatherhead. She graduated from The College of Wooster with a BA in Communication Studies and minor in Environmental Studies. In Fall 2013, she studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark where she studied a European perspective of sustainable development, focusing on the roles of government, society, and business in shaping a sustainable future. She continued to explore the relationship between sustainability and business in her senior thesis. Eliza developed an experimental study examining consumer perceptions of environmental advertisements and differences in reactions towards various message strategies, specifically the sins of greenwashing.” The highlight of her summer internship experiences was working at Spectrum Health, a West Michigan based health system, where she researched and implemented sustainability initiatives, including a rehabilitation garden, a green cleaning guide and a hospital farm stand. In her spare time, Eliza enjoys acting, running and traveling.
