It is easy for users with standard vision to navigate a page and get to the content they need, but your site should be built with vision-impaired users in mind as well. Just like those with standard vision, those using screen readers or other assistive devices should be able to skip the content they don’t need and find exactly what they do need.
Structure
Proper page structure allows all users to understand the purpose and importance of content. Using proper headings and tags for content allows assistive devices to locate the main content and jump between content sections. Learn more about proper headings and page structure.
ARIA Landmarks
Accessible Rich Internet Application (ARIA) Landmarks help assistive devices and technologies interact with pages and understand page content. ARIA Landmarks define specific roles—like navigation or buttons—for page content and allow users to navigate a page. ARIA Landmarks are supported by most browsers and screen readers. PDFs
If you are creating PDF documents, creating understandable structure will help all users find the content they need. Adding bookmarks to properly structured pages allows users with assistive to move through the content without needing to read through the entire document.
To add bookmarks in Adobe Acrobat Pro, select Bookmarks from the Navigation Pane, then select New Bookmarks from Structure. Follow the instructions in the new window.
