Gary Pillar is in his 19th year at Case Western Reserve University. His responsibilities as Assistant Athletic Director include development, alumni activities, relationship building with the external community and event management.
Building on the 100 year tradition of athletics on campus, Pillar has helped guide many fundraising successes in recent years, including a new baseball stadium (Nobby’s Ballpark), new softball stadium (Mather Park) a new health & wellness center (the Wyant Athletic and Wellness Center), and endowing of the James C. Wyant Director of Athletics position, in addition to a number of other smaller initiatives.
His University-wide responsibilities include advancement efforts spread across campus.
Pillar is a member of the senior management team in University Development, the Division of Student Affairs, and the Athletic Department. In addition, serves as adjunct professor in the Weatherhead School of Management.
Prior to Case Western Reserve, Pillar spent six years in Development at Kent State University, and ten years in Development at Benedictine High School, which followed three years as a stockbroker, and a seven year career as a high school math teacher and coach.
Pillar graduated from Ohio University, with a major in Business Management and minor in Education, and was a pitcher on the Bobcat baseball team.
