Breastfeeding course inspires journal article

Fourth-year Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine students Bethel Mieso and Hunter Burrow were inspired to research racial disparities in breastfeeding after taking a virtual breastfeeding elective with their professor and mentor Suet Kam Lam, assistant professor of pediatrics and founding faculty co-lead of the Andrew B. Kaufman World Medicine Pathway. Based on their research, Mieso, Burrow and Lam co-authored an article, “Beyond Statistics: Uncovering the Roots of Racial Disparities in Breastfeeding,” that appeared in Pediatrics this month.
