Collaborative Practice I accepting new community partners

The Office of Interprofessional and Interdisciplinary Education and Research is accepting new community partners to host student team projects for Collaborative Practice I, an interprofessional service learning experience for health professions and social work students for the 2023–24 academic year.

Collaborative Practice I consists of two main components: interprofessional service learning and interprofessional teamwork. Over the course of the academic year, each student team devotes approximately 25 hours to a community-based project. Projects are broadly focused on health and well-being. Examples of projects include:

  • Creating, revising or delivering health education materials,
  • Planning and/or evaluating programs,
  • Developing resource guides,
  • Conducting needs assessments, and
  • Identifying and reviewing best practices to support current programming.

Collaborative Practice I meets every Wednesday beginning Sept. 13 through April 2024, from 3 to 5 p.m. Interested partners should contact Anna Thornton Matos at abt11@case.edu to set up a meeting. The deadline for project submissions is Aug. 15.

During the 2022-23 academic year, Collaborative Practice I included more than 530 students from eight different professions and 66 unique community partners.
