Interprofessional simulation workshop on airway-management skills offered in May

The Office of Interprofessional and Interdisciplinary Education and Research will host interprofessional simulation workshops in May at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus in the Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Simulation Lab (J4-254).

The sessions will be held:

  • Thursday, May 5, 8:30–11:30 a.m. and 12:30–3:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 26, 8:30–11:30 a.m. and 12:30–3:30 p.m.

This workshop is open to any advanced healthcare student. It is designed to introduce basic airway-management skills, including mask ventilation, supraglottic airway insertion and endotracheal intubation. The workshop will consist of short lectures provided by anesthesiologists, hands-on practice and a high-fidelity simulation. Participating students will experience interprofessional teamwork in a real-life scenario within a simulation setting.

The workshop directors are Cleveland Clinic’s Sergio Bustamante, cardiothoracic anesthesiology attending and chair, section of Anesthesia in Society for Simulation in Healthcare; Yasdet Maldonado, cardiothoracic anesthesiology attending; and Abey Abraham, chief resident, anesthesiology.

If you would like to participate, please complete the registration form.

Each session is limited to four interprofessional learners. About two weeks before the workshop, you will be notified if you have been assigned to one of the interprofessional groups participating in this experience.

Email Yasdet Maldonado at maldony2@ccf.org if you have any questions about the workshop.
