Class Year: 2023
Program Major: Doctor of Dental Medicine
Growing up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Jihan Aitelcadi heard from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine alumni about the strength of the school’s curriculum, faculty and overall experience.
That included her childhood dentist, who ignited her interest in the field.
“I wanted to become a compassionate, thorough and passionate dentist like [he] was with his patients,” said Aitelcadi, now a fourth-year Doctor of Dental Medicine student.
This commitment to providing care was a core tenet of her tight-knit family; she saw her parents work hard to provide for her and her two younger brothers.
“I am appreciative of every single life experience my family and I have gone through together,” said Aitelcadi. “If it weren't for my family, I would not be where I am or who I am today.”
In addition to dentistry, Aitelcadi also has a passion for art. She participated in many art shows and exhibitions growing up, where she showcased paintings, drawings and graphic designs.
“My artistic background not only enhanced my attention to detail,” said Aitelcadi, who earned her undergraduate degree at John Carroll University, “but, combined with my skills in math and science, it enhanced my desire to integrate form, function and problem-solving—all of which work together in the field of dentistry.”
After graduation in May, Aitelcadi plans to continue providing holistic oral care to the Cleveland community through private practice.
