Volunteer opportunities for health sciences students

Get involved with the community and join the Case Western Reserve University chapter of Primary Care Progress. Primary Care Progress (PCP) is a national interprofessional organization of students interested in civic engagement, teamwork and sustainable community change. 

CWRU’s chapter is also looking for new nursing (bachelor’s and master’s students), physician assistant and medical student leaders. Join the CWRU Primary Care Progress listserv for additional opportunities and follow the group on Instagram (@cwru_pcp).

Please consider volunteering at these upcoming events:

  • Fighting Vaccine Hesitancy: CWRU’s PCP chapter is teaming up with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health and the nonprofit A Vision of Change to work in their COVID-19 vaccine clinics. They are looking for two students to work alongside their community health workers to help dispel vaccine myths and distribute gift cards to community members getting their first vaccine.   • Farm to Table Food distribution: CWRU’s PCP chapter is also teaming with A Vision of Change, as well as the Greater Cleveland Foodbank, to help package fresh foods for community members. This event is held two Thursday mornings each month from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Fairhill Partners (12200 Fairhill Rd, Cleveland, OH 44120).  Sign up here.
  • Walk with a Doc Program: In this monthly walk, health professional students and health care providers promote healthy living through activity and stimulate conversation about general health topics with community members. Join the program the first Saturday* of every month from 10 to 11 a.m. at Zelma Watson George Recreation Center. Additional information can be found online. *Next month's walk will be held Jan. 8.
