Research Information
Research Interests
Dr. Iyer’s research is focused on identifying the most acceptable noninvasive and accurate techniques for the early detection of esophageal neoplasia (precancerous conditions and early cancer) arising in Barrett's esophagus. Biomarkers to detect the presence of prevalent dysplasia and carcinoma and stratify the risk of progression in BE are also being investigated in conjunction with collaborators. Dr. Iyer’s research team also studies the association of obesity with esophageal carcinogenesis and is conducting clinical trials of novel agents which can interrupt obesity related pathways.
